Speaking English Clearly for Non-Native Speakers of English
Speaking English Clearly is an accent reduction and accent modification program to help global professionals pronounce the sounds of English correctly. Many global professionals have a strong grasp of the English language, but heavy accents may interfere with their ability to be clearly understood when communicating crucial information. While they do not need to get rid of their accents, their roles require their spoken English to be easily understood by clients, customers, and co-workers.

Customized Accent Reduction Programs for Individuals
Individual coaching for accent reduction or accent modification often lasts for 8 or 12 one-hour private sessions. Sandra identifies 10 to 15 specific sounds of English that the foreign-born professional is not pronouncing correctly. She teaches the client how to articulate those sounds, helps the client practice the sounds while speaking English and uses industry specific material to make sure they can pronounce words common to the client’s profession. Sessions are often scheduled every two to four weeks to allow the client to practice and integrate new sounds into their daily speech. Sessions may also be done by telephone or video conferencing from anywhere in the world.
Customized Accent Reduction Programs for Small Groups
Customized Accent Reduction programs are offered in small groups of 4 to 8 participants at the clients’ location. Participants learn to pronounce the sounds of English that help them be more easily understood when speaking English. For example Asians typically need to learn the consonant sounds of L, R, V, W, N, NG and TH and certain neutral vowels that Americanize their pronunciation. Sandra teaches participants to use their teeth, tongue and lips to form these sounds correctly. They practice in words, sentences, reading aloud. They also practice to integrate the sounds into their daily speech.

Group classes for corporate employees can be developed to suit the needs of the organization. Groups are most effective when limited to a maximum of 8 people. Sandra identifies the sounds of English that participants are not pronouncing correctly. She teaches participants proper articulation which is positioning of tongue, teeth, and lips, for correct pronunciation. Industry specific terms are used for practicing correct pronunciation.
Individual sessions may also be done via Skype or Zoom from anywhere in the world.
